Senior Database Support Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The Senior Database Support Engineer is responsible for the support of Quaero’s hosted marketing databases and CRM solution with an emphasis on data research, data management and incident resolution.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Work as a team member responsible for the ownership of the production database solution. Provide technical expertise and best practices for database support, load monitoring, job control, and overall client support. Help client during user acceptance testing and on-boarding of the hosted solution.Work with client to answer data questions, support related incidents/tickets, and help with business processes understanding.Work with Data Architects to build scalable database solutions.  Work with Database Administrators to address any performance issues. Develop & support data validation systems, metadata and ETL infrastructure. Modify existing database schemas to support changes while maintaining overall data integrity.Develop and support the data hygiene and customer matching routines. Develop and implement data archiving and back up strategies.Provide documentation on operation run book, support guide and update the existing documentation to reflect changes in the database. Lead ETL migration initiatives to provide long-term database durability and scalability. Serve as a quality checkpoint by executing both unit and system plans.Mentor junior team members and provide direction creating a strong team environment.

 

 

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work directly and effectively with clients.

· Strong problem solving skills, able to find the root cause of issues and quickly provide solutions.

· Experience supporting large user base.

· Expertise on SQL Server 2005 and 2000 database environment.

· Experience working in complex database environments which involve complex business process, multiple data sources, load processes, etc.

· Excellent ETL skills including development experience with DTS and SSIS packages, stored procedures, and T-SQL.

· Strong data analysis and profiling skills.

· Experience in implementing data hygiene and address management applications.

· Ability to prioritize & work independently.

· Experience on database maintenance, performance tuning and administration techniques.

· Exposure to VB Script, .NET and XML a plus.

· 5-10 years of data management experience is required.
