Senior Customer Service Engineer

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility to interface with customers, debug and resolve customer issues.
Provide high quality technical support in regards to the Netezza Performance Server. Deliver timely and high quality incident resolution focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer. Work with developers to identify and implement enhancements to the product to improve robustness and serviceability.
Manage escalations and sub-cases to ensure timely and high quality resolution of all issues. Develop and implement strategies for providing proactive support resulting in fewer incidents, increased availability, or accelerated deployments. Initiate and participate in triage meetings to share knowledge with other engineers and to efficiently resolve customer problems. Work at the customer site, if required. Should be able to travel outside the United States if required.

Background required
Required:
Must have extensive knowledge of SQL. Must have experience in SQL query analysis, re-writing queries and database performance optimization.

Production database system administration and support is a major plus.

Demonstrated technical competence with UNIX and database technologies.

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP is also a plus.

Experience working in a 24x7 support environment.

Qualifications include a 4-year technical degree; 10+ years experience in technical support, development or sustaining engineering.

Relevant experience in working with customers to resolve issues.

Experience/Education Required:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline and minimum of 5-10 years of customer support, sustaining or development relevant experience.
