Relevant Work Experience:: 5+ to 7 Years Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Description:Acts under the supervision of the Enterprise Medical Imaging Team Lead. Provides Tier1 system support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of EMI developer systems, servers, storage and applications. Writes, updates, enhances, maintains, and distributes user documentation and procedures as needed. Interacts with hardware and software vendors regarding support issues. Requires advanced knowledge of systems analysis. Good customer service and problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks, ability to learn new tools and technologies, excellent communication skills (oral and written).PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDay to day support of departments Solaris based image archive system including hardware, software and scripting of necessary tasks.Ability to plan, test, implement and troubleshoot system software and hardware includingRAID, network connectivity and peripherals.Troubleshoot / repair hardware (Servers, Laptops, Blades, Switches ..) and software (Security, Applications, OS .) problems/issues.Install patches / upgrades to operating systems and system software.Coordinates with Team Lead and Senior Management on department application and hardware issues.Provide training and documentation instructions for hardware and software operation for department systems.Works with Team Lead to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.Investigates, plans, implements, tests, and debugs systems and software.Provides advanced technical assistance and maintenance support to departmental end users and department IT peers.Records and maintains hardware and software inventories for ender user license agreements.Performs problem resolution and provides Tier 1 on-call support for computer/network systems.Responds to requests for implementing new Radiology related systems for enhancing/managing clinical workflow.Research/investigate new technologies for improving clinical delivery of information and image database management.Confers with Hospital administrative personnel, medical staff members and department heads to ensure successful implementation of new systems or existing system upgrades Writes and maintains detailed internal/external documentation on systems. Trains department representative, such as a supervisor or department head in how to use new systems or new system features.Has responsibility for the security of medical and financial confidential information.Acts as a technical resource to other team members.Performs all other duties as assigned.Qualifications:A B.S. in Computer Science is preferred or equivalent experience; at least five years in a systems support position. 5 years of Solaris experience and 3 years Windows server experience is requiredSignificant experience with shell scripting is requiredKnowledge of Windows 2003 or higher and XP or higher is requiredSolaris certifications are a plus.Experience with SUN Microsystems QFS archive manager a significant plus.SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDExtensive knowledge/experience with Solaris/Microsoft server products including resource management, security, accounts management, web server, deployment/hosting and OS/Application updates/patching, ., etc...Extensive understanding of hardware including uni/multi-processors, memory, hardware/software RAID, ATA, SCSI & Fiber Channel drives, Sans, NAS, general networking.Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
