SYSTEMS ENGINEER 119198
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Infrastructure Services, and in collaboration with IT Department Management, Enterprise Architect, the Information Security Office, and Lead System Engineer, provides technical expertise as it applies to server and systems hardware, operating systems, and general data center operations. Directly responsible for hardware, OS, and product implementation, day-to-day integrity, and operation of Windows, Linux, Unix, and other systems in all environments. Will also assist in the planning of short and long-range changes in configuration, in making recommendations for the selection of platform configurations, hardware, operating systems, and utility software, and will assist in the planning, provisioning, installation, documentation, and administration of all server hardware, operating systems, peripherals, local storage subsystems, utility software, and applications setup. Strong understanding and experience with Windows Server operating system technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Cluster, DHCP, WINS, DNS, IIS, Exchange, MS SQL, etc. Strong understanding and experience with Linux, Unix, operating system technologies including TCP IP networking services, Apache, HA Clustering, BIND, Sendmail, Perl/PHP/CGI scripting, etc. Strong background in network monitoring tools and services Knowledge of Unix and Windows server setup, configuration, and administration concepts and practices Knowledge of data storage and backup hardware software including RAID, SCSI, HBA, tape, HP Data Protector, data replication, and disaster recovery Knowledge of TCP IP networking Knowledge of data center operations and concepts including maximizing system availability, downtime scheduling and communications, incident reporting, documentation, and change management High School diploma, GED, or foreign equivalent. Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT. Strong understanding and experience in server hardware technology including RAID, SCSI, HBA, NIC, Intel CPU. Preferred: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Systems, or equivalent working experience.
