Basic Purpose
SQL Server database operations DBA in support of business critical applications.

Scope
SQL Server DBA, team-oriented with strong sense of process.  Able to work closely with
application support teams and infrastructure support teams to maintain a secure, highly
available SQL database environment with multiple servers. 

Responsibilities
Database Administration in support  of business critical applications in a high availability
multiple server environment containing SQL 2000 and 2005 databases.  Identify and resolve
database problems. Install and upgrade database software.  Perform system and database
monitoring necessary to meet service levels agreements.  Assist application developers in
performance tuning, DTS, SSIS, stored procedure coding, and deployment of database objects in
a very secure environment.  Develop, test and implement reliable database backup/recovery
strategies.  Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
 
Qualifications
College education or equivalent training/certification/experience. 
1-3 yrs related experience on SQL Server.
