Our Client is seeking an intermediate level MS-SQL Database Administrator with administration and development experience. This position is primarily responsible for SQL 2000 and 2005 database maintenance in development, test, and production environments.

 

Job functions include:

• Manage database backups by determining and implementing appropriate strategies

• Periodically test backups to ensure database recoverability

• Run integrity checks and analyze results to identify areas to be addressed

• Maintain indexes with periodic rebuilds and defrags

• Review SQL Server Error, SQL Agent, Database Mail, and Windows Event logs daily to identify issues

• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs

• Monitor database performance using Performance Monitor, Profiler, Execution Plans, Index Tuning Wizard, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, etc to find and fix performance issues

• Document database changes, job schedules and any development

• Create and test disaster recovery plans

• Manage security roles and users

• SQL coding for database data refreshes, database monitoring, promoting developer code to production
