Job Description
The Senior Cognos 8.3 BI developer will be responsible for aspects of report administration, development & maintenance using COGNOS8.3 software. The Cognos 8.3 BI Developer will report directly to the Director of BI team. Ideal candidate must have extensive experience in COGNOS toolset and server administration with database administration skills.
Job RequirementsDesign, develop, troubleshoot, debug and implements Business Intelligence reporting solutions using COGNOS 8.3 suite.Convert all reports to Cognos Data modeling strength/ Pl- sql and Oracle database backgroundPerform Cognos administration for multiple BI environments.Adhere to product engineering methodology while working collaboratively with a variety of product teams (data integration, quality assurance, configuration management, product management).Define, design, develop and deliver flexible reports that meet business user needsAdheres to a SDLC as part of the development activitiesUse COGNOS server administration tool to perform administrative tasks.Troubleshooting and resolving issues using the COGNOS log message facility.Continuously work on performance tuning and optimization using load balancing and distributed hardware architecture.Perform detailed documentation of design, development, testing and deployment activities necessary to ensure team knowledge sharing.Transform business requirements into comprehensive solutions using the appropriate methods, tools and technologies.Ensure compliance with standard software development practices, processes and enterprise standards.
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 8 years experience in Enterprise Reporting applications, Enterprise data warehouse, specifically engaging BI tools such as COGNOS.Minimum of 4- 5 years of experience with the COGNOS 8 Business Intelligence platform, with at least 2 years of experience with COGNOS 8.2/8.3.Minimum of 2-3 years experience of COGNOS administration, UNIX, SQL Server and Oracle Database experience.Must have very good architectural understanding of the COGNOS distributed environment on a UNIX/windows platform with experience in upgrades and administration of COGNOS BI.Extensive hands-on experience in troubleshooting performance issues associated with COGNOS ReportNet 1.1 (MR2/MR3).Extensive experience in powerplay cubes, framework manager and server administrationExtensive experience in query studio and report studioExtensive experience in using COGNOS ReportNet tool in the areas of Metadata, Portal and User management & administration, creating simple and complex reports.Certification with COGNOS Tool set is a plusExcellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills.Excellent written and oral communication skillsExperience in Noetix view is an added advantage
