Career opportunities may be found at the National Support Center, located in Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth, our National Customer Contact Center, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, or at one of our sales and service branch offices located across the United States as well as British Columbia, Canada.  QA Test Specialist Description:SUMMARY: This position is responsible for coordinating and performing all manual and automated testing activities for software changes originating from upgrades and new software development for assigned business area applications. Also responsible for all Quality Assurance activities including test planning, test case creation, execution of manual and automated tests, test configuration management process, and reporting testing status. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Act as Quality Assurance Testing subject matter expert on assigned business area applications and analyze functional and non-functional business requirements and technical designs in order to build comprehensive test plans, create detailed test cases, and resolve system defects* Coordinate and execute Quality Assurance testing activities to ensure new software and software changes meet or exceed specifications and adhere to quality standards* Develop and execute test plans that cover all areas of functional testing for assigned systems, including designing and implementing test plans for complex, distributed, software applications* Coordinate off-shore testing resources as required through all stages of testing process and efforts to design, develop, execute, and maintain software test designs and documentation * Coordinate testing activities of process and framework for networking, application, software products, OTS or in-house/custom applications, and tools to develop and maintain quality standards* Coordinate, document, and maintain all test activities in Mercury Interactive Quality Center, including requirements, test cases, test execution status reports, and Defect Management * Perform manual and automated testing as required* Work with IT and Business users to resolve product related anomalies* Coordinate joint testing activities with vendors and Brink's Home Security resources* Coordinate User Acceptance Testing* Document, track, and report on testing activities and system defects* Ensure availability of applications used for testing* Coordinate all aspects of test environment, including hardware, operating systems, and system software* Perform automated testing activities to automate regression, load, and performance testing as required* Help drive software process and ongoing testing process improvements* Perform special projects and other duties as assignedQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from a four-year college or university and a minimum of four years experience with automated test tools or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a solid working knowledge of QA/Test methodologies. Must have experience using and administering performance and automated testing tools, writing scripts, and recording key strokes using tools such as Mercury Interactive Quality Center, Mercury Interactive WinRunner, and Microsoft Team Foundation Server testing tools. Experience developing the test strategy for test planning and execution and performance testing and tuning and a thorough knowledge of software development life cycle and software change management and release management processes required. Previous experience leading test teams and test environments a must. QA Testing certifications a plus.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals and procedures, financial policies and pronouncements, and government regulations. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence. Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups within and outside the Company.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to work calculate figures and amounts such as voltage and power consumption values, variances, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficiency with computer hardware components and software packages, especially Microsoft Office products. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to contribute to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying interpersonal and collaboration skills to achieve project goals and realize value. Must be flexible and possess excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills. Must be a self motivated individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Attention to detail and confidentiality a must.
