Position:  QA Engineer (IT, Quality Assurance)

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Location: San Diego, CA

 

Qualifications:BS in Computer science or related field. MS is a plus. 4+ years of industry experience. 2+ years of direct testing of distributed software systems & solutions using Microsoft (.NET/C#/COM+/SQL), and J2EE and related core technologies. Strong knowledge and experience applying QA best practices, techniques, and tools (both custom and off-the-shelf) in a fast-paced, iterative solution development life cycle. Proficient in developing risk-based test plans, test cases, and test matrices. Strong software analysis and troubleshooting skills. Experience with performance and functional test automation tools (Quick Test Pro, SOATest, WinRunner, SilkTest, LoadRunner, etc.) is a strong plus.

 

Job Description:

· This is a hands-on QA position.  Tasks you will perform include but are not limited to test planning, manual testing, test automation, test environment setup/teardown, defect logging and verification, etc.

· You will be responsible for defining and executing the QA strategy for assigned features and functionality within product releases and rollouts.

· You will be responsible for continuously re-evaluating the test strategy to adjust for new information, changing risks, shifting priorities, and schedules.

· A primary focus of yours will be to accurately assess and quantify the business and technical risks associated with the software you are testing and to communicate these risks clearly to project stakeholders in all phases of the solution development life cycle. 

· You will seek out opportunities to leverage functional test automation and make recommendations to the QA Manager.

· You will develop functional test automation scripts using OOP principles that exhibit a high level of reuse and ROI while requiring minimal maintenance. (using MS Team Foundation Server for Testers)

· You will actively participate contribute in reviews of requirements, design, schedules, and test plans.

 

Responsibilities include:

· Applies QA best practices from project inception to deployment and beyond.

· Properly documents tests, executes them, and accurately reports testing status and test results to project stakeholders.

· Logs all defects discovered and tracks them through closure.

· Ensures that the reliability, performance, and functionality of assigned features and functionality meet or exceed business goals.

· Works in high collaboration with software development staff to assist in the reproduction and resolution of defects.

· Prepare for and lead early, interactive User Acceptance Tests with Business and IT stakeholders for assigned projects. 

· Develops functional and performance test automation scripts; applies automation and programming technologies to address defined project needs

· Makes recommendations to improve product reliability and performance.

· Review and provide feedback to improve solution development process.

· Develop strong understanding of provide-commerce.com’ business model.
