Property and Casualty Insurance Business Analyst

CGI is looking for insurance professionals to fill the role of Business Analyst. The Business Analyst is responsible for a full range of activities which ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the business unit. The Business Analyst will design and document application functional changes to address a variety of business needs. The Business Analyst will be a functional expert on the specified application(s). He/she will do an initial assessment of the scope and magnitude of work requests received from Client Services. Working closely with technical staff, he/she will perform detailed analysis of each assigned work request, make recommendations for changes, and develop and execute appropriate test plans.



Essential Duties

- Works directly with appropriate personnel to understand business issues presented both internally within the business unit and externally by clients.

- Analyzes client requests, problem reports, enhancement requests, and regulatory changes, and creates requirements documentation addressing in detail the impact on CGI-s systems and services.

- Defines Appropriate Test Plans, Test Matrices, and Test Cases.

- Creates and maintains application user documentation.

- Assists in work planning and scheduling including work estimating, multiple work item dependencies, client impact.

- Identifies temporary workarounds to reported problems.

- Participates in application change reviews (link reviews).

- Meets with project team(s) regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines.

- Executes test plans and assures quality of deliverables

- Completes -post-link- testing

- Assists project manager in developing tactical and strategic product, services and/or programs to support the business unit-s goals (financial, quality, production, customer service, operational efficiency, market share, etc.).

- Works closely with business unit personnel and business partners to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve product, service and/or program business processes.

- Reviews, analyzes, and creates detailed documentation of business systems and user needs, including workflow, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

- Consults with BPS technical to determine business, functional and technical requirements for specified applications.

- Coordinates the release of application with other affected application areas within the business unit or with client applications.

- Analyzes the business unit-s activities and trends and compares analyses against the service standards and best practices.

- Analyzes trends and recommends adjustments to address and/or capitalize on trends.

- Defines, develops and implements quality assurance practices and procedures, end user test plans and other QA assessments.

- Works with technical to conduct testing to meet project timelines.

- Ensures that all tests are conducted and documented according CGI-s quality process.

- Responsible for ensuring that all documentation accurately reflects the current status of changes and outstanding issues so that business requirements reflect application features and functions.



Essential Skills Required



Work Experience

- Proven analysis skills, including the ability to gather and document clear business requirements.

Proven success in the following job competencies:

- Strong understanding of insurance processing and work flow

- Technical Industry and/or Profession Expertise

- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management internally and the client site.

- Ability to develop creative solutions to problems

- Ability to communicate with clients effectively

- Ability to perform consulting with clients when needed

- Ability to work with clients to develop specifications

- Ability to manage small to mid size application projects

- Ability to clearly document business requirements, system impacts and situations

- Analysis and Reporting

- Proven competency with written and verbal communication

- Customer Focus and Relationship Building

- Problem Solving and Decision Making



Hardware/Software Packages

- Proficiency in effectively using Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Experience with underwriting software applications and web-based underwriting systems.



Education Requirements

- BA degree business or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.

- CPCU or other relevant professional designation preferred.
