Production Support Engineer

Position Purpose:
The candidate will be a member of a team of technical engineers providing third level of support for our e-Commerce Production systems in Germany  running 24x7 maintaining >99.9% availability across a multi-platform environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to production teams to faster recover incidents on our running J2EE Applications.
Help to Troubleshoot and correct system problems including potential problems with Application Configuration, Network Communications, Firewalls, DB connections, etc…
Participate to the Root Cause Analysis for Incidents detected in the production environment (ITIL Problem Management Process).
Provide support to internal development staff to fix some production issue, make them aware of production infrastructure
Provide support for major loads
Define and document diagnostic procedures.
Requirements:
Experience with WebServer Technology such as SunONE (iPlanet), Apache.
Administrator or strong knowledge with Application Server Technology (e.g. BEA WebLogic, JBoss), Java, J2EE, JSP/Servlets, JDBC, Java Runtimes
Experience in running, supporting and managing high availability infrastructures (24x7 >99.9% uptime requirements).
Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory, Unix/Linux Operating Systems, Load Balancer Technology, Cisco Routers, Firewalls, VPN, DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL
Ability to sort through complex issues, perform root cause analysis and conduct comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
Experience with software release procedures.
Basic database knowledge (SQL queries).
Knowledge of tools and scripting environments (e.g. Ant, Perl).
Ability to identify, analyze, prioritize data events, problems and issues.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Willingness to join the on-call team
Education:
University degree or equivalent
