Product Support Engineer

 

 

 

MagTek, a leading manufacturer of magnetic stripe/Smart-Card readers and encoders, and check readers and imaging systems is searching for an experienced Product Support Engineer.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of equipment and systems, and provides on-going technical support.  Assigned projects are moderately complex, requiring sound judgment.

·  Interfaces with customer regarding inquiries and questions on product operation and the technical capabilities of products. Assesses customer needs and recommends technical operation and product solutions.

·  Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action.

·  Trains customer personnel and OEM dealers in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities.

·  Shares "On-Call" status with other MagTek employees as assigned, offering 7/24-hour support for MagTek customers and sales organizations.

·  Represents Company in dealings with customers and is responsible for customers' satisfaction with equipment.

·  Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·  Bachelor’s degree in information systems or engineering, or equivalent experience.

·  Two to three years' experience in an electromechanical environment, preferably magnetics.

·  Demonstrated knowledge in some or all of the following areas; computer hardware, software technology, magnetics theory, interfaces and systems integration techniques.

·  POS and Banking industry operations knowledge.  Card technology theory and practice.

·  Strong knowledge of Mag-Tek products, services, applications, and major customers.

·  Strong problem analysis and solving skills.

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·  Travel as required.
