The Product Manager will be responsible for defining new product opportunities and working with Belo Technology, Belo media properties, and 3rd party vendors to implement innovative products. This will be done by leveraging Belo’s core competencies of content creation, local sales and the ability to promote new products through existing TV, newspaper, and website assets.

 

This position will be responsible for identifying opportunities; developing the business case; creating the Product Plan/Roadmap; and, implementing new products among Belo’s 20+ websites. The position also is responsible for monetizing the new product, likely through advertising. In summary, the Product Manager will be the Business Owner for their category.

 

The right candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to:

-  Identify and evaluate new opportunities.

-  Understand necessary technologies that are the foundation of new products

-  Evaluate, negotiate and manage vendor relationships.

-  Work collaboratively with teams and individuals across the company to garner support for the strategy and implement against milestone-oriented timelines.

-  Own and drive the Product Lifecycle Management processes for their category.

 

Job Requirements:

-  Online experience, preferably with media properties and/or B-2-C websites.

-  Product Development/Manager experience, including product roadmap creation, requirements documentation, usability testing, and involvement in development efforts, through to product deployment.

-  Develop business plans and be able to assess business opportunities for fit with strategy and company vision; understand cost and revenue implications.

-  Work collaboratively with cross-company editorial and sales groups to execute against the product roadmap and ensure Belo meets and exceeds financial and audience targets.

-  Analyze the external marketplace, customers and competitors to identify and recommend the right products/features for consumers and advertisers.

-  Communicate products to sales teams/site managers; integrate feedback into products.

 Skills and Qualifications

-  5-7 years of online product development experience

-  Proven track record of developing and rolling out financially successful products.

-  Strong analysis and financial planning skills

-  Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

-  A good balance of strategic and execution skills.

-  Strong problem solving ability.

 

Education:

-  B.A./ B.S. required; MBA Preferred
