Novell Systems Engineer III

Job Title: Novell Systems Engineer III

 

The Novell Systems Engineer III will be responsible for assisting in the planning, analysis, design and implementation of Novell technologies in an existing Novell infrastructure environment.

 Reports to Novell/Unix Systems Manager.

 

 

§ Provides management and support for the following Novell technologies: Netware Server, eDirectory, ZEN Server Management, iPrint, IDM

§ Supports all core infrastructure components such as OS, directory services, and patch management solutions

§ Works with other Commerce IT groups, business units, and outside vendors on the support for server based solutions.

§ Supports application owners, systems administrators, and other IT groups in troubleshooting and resolving issues

§ Provides technical guidance to junior team members

§ Works on all phases of a project work, including project planning, documentation, and implementation.

§ Leads design and implementation efforts for infrastructure projects including documentation and project management

§ Performs as project lead as needed, managing and directing junior team members through completion of the project

 

 

§ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field required

§ Minimum 5+ years experience supporting a Novell server environment

§ Project lead experience or Technical Management experienced required

§ Must be within reasonable travel distance from Commerce Tech Center location in Mt. Laurel, NJ

§ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with all levels of management

§ Ability to work both independently and on a team

§ Extensive knowledge of networking technologies

§ Experience assembling and troubleshooting various server hardware (Compaq/HP experience a plus)

§ Experience with scripting languages preferred, including Perl, Batch, Shell

§ Solid understanding of hardware, OS, networking and server management software

§ Ability to facilitate and expedite stakeholder decision making in complex matrix organization

§ Available to travel  approximately 25% of timeDemanding project requires flexibility work hours
