Field Engineer

 

Expectations: A Velocity IQ Field Engineer is responsible for managing a database of clients around the Tampa Bay region who rank in the small to medium size business niche. Some clients may utilize simple peer to peer structures with minimal emphasis on technology while others depend on multi server, multi location environments with complex routing and remote access designs. VIQ Field Engineers are expected to approach clients on a consultant level, providing guidance toward security, disaster recovery, business continuity, systems functionality and growth strategies. Under standard operations, the Field Engineer is the primary technical contact and depended on heavily by clients for daily operations. Ideal candidate must be extremely organized, have strong communication skills and is self motivated.

 

Qualifications: A technology professional with 4 or more years supporting small and medium size business architecture; the candidate must be well experienced in all Microsoft Server Systems, Microsoft Office applications, as well as Exchange, networking and routing principles. Advance knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IIS, VPN, VLANs, and Terminal Services is expected. Hands on with Small Business Server would be considered a bonus. Although advanced networking skills are necessary, Engineers must be capable and willing to support from desktop up. This position is often under pressure and must think well during intense situations. Experience with Field work in a billable per hour scenario is a definite positive qualifier.

 

Desired Certifications: A+, MCSE W2K3, CCNA
