Network Support Engineer

We have an immediate opening for a Network Support Engineer.

 

Network Support Engineer

 

Provide support and technical assistance of F5 products running on various operating systems to internal, external customers and partners ranging from small Internet companies to large multi-national corporations with an Internet presence. The Network Support Engineer typically spends between 5 and 6 hours per day supporting customers over the phone.  Must be willing to work  1:00 – 10:00 PM Monday – Friday and be on a on-call rotation.

 

Responsibilities

•  Work with customers, internal staff, and L3 vendor partners to provide excellent customer service and meet SLA.

•  Utilizes various troubleshooting tools, facilities and equipment at Milestone Systems to replicate/solve customer issues: VMWare, httpwatch, Wireshark, etc.

•  Sets customer expectations as necessary, and accepts ownership of customer issues until a solution is achieved providing complete customer satisfaction.

•  Work with customers at varying levels of experience or technical capability under varying time constraints. Able to communicate highly technical information to technical and non-technical audience.

 

Qualifications:

•  F5 experience and/or certifications a plus, but not required

•  Very strong Linux skills required.

•  Network certification required: (e.g.)  Network+, Juniper, CCNA, etc

•  Working knowledge of Web application protocols: (e.g.) http, h ttps, ftp, etc.

•  Minimum 2 years experience working with LAN and WAN topologies, TCP/IP protocol, OSI Model, routers and switches required.

•  Microsoft XP, Microsoft Server, and Red Hat Linux experience preferred

•  Minimum 2 years work experience in a LI/II technical support role working with relevant technologies: (e.g.) DNS/BIND, Postfix, Apache, syslogd, etc.

•  Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies.

•  Minimum 2 years recent experience UNIX shell scripting: TKL, Python, and/or Perl
