Our growing company is currently seeking a Contract Sr Network Engineer to possible Perm position for our Omaha, NE location. 

 

 

Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities:

A US Network Services Sr. Network Engineer reporting to the US Network Services Director, that engineers, designs, administers, operates, maintains, implements and troubleshoots the local and wide area network and assists in maintaining and troubleshooting divisional local area networks.  Ensures high integrity of the regional network performance. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements

 

q Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Develops, documents, and assists with the implementation of regional local area network processes and procedures.

q Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

q Provides leadership in the resolution of problems while providing preventative maintenance to avoid problems.

q Consults with other departments and business units with regard to the functionality, compatibility, and limitations for the local area networks.

q Supervises, evaluates, and participates in the training and guidance of the Network Engineers.

q Interfaces with systems regarding the integrity, testing, operating procedures, and support of local area networks.

q Provides training to end-users and system support staff for regional local area networking systems; maintains a high level of knowledge in all current systems.

q Assists director with ensuring compatibility and cooperation among divisional networking hardware and software.

q Provides network technical support and assistance for internal and external customers at all Sitel sites. These issues will be escalated to the Sr, network engineer by the Lead projects Engineer and or the IT network services operations team.

q Assists Lead Projects Engineer with the design and implementation of the IP network based infrastructures within Sitel.  These projects will be primarily instigated by the US Sitel IT BID team and the Sitel US PMO, but will also involve project initiated by internal strategic or technical network requirements

q Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

q Liaising with other specialists to ensure the Sitel IT solutions are fit for purpose and delivered cost effectively.

q Ensure that all IT and security policies are fit for purpose and conformed to at all times.

 

 Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent work experience required. Cisco certification at the CCNA, CCNP level required or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience Target : 

· 6+ years progressively IT specialist experience gained in multiple technical disciplines (with up-to-date knowledge in as many technical areas as possible) preferably in a Cisco network, e-commerce and network security environment.

Skills:

· Proven ICTskills in the networking field with a service-orientated attitude. Prior call centre experience is highly advantageous given the specialised applications that will be used. You will use your experience to enable you to deliver continuous service improvements, and to contribute to a knowledge base for IT Service Delivery to document procedures for fault and change management services.

· Ideally you need to have proven Network Design experience, across all current technologies in high availability environments with up to 4000 concurrent users across multiple sites.

· Be able to work in a fast paced environment, able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients whilst maintaining enthusiasm, sound judgement and common sense. You must be able to thrive in an environment undergoing rapid technological and business change.

 

Knowledge/Abilities:

· Administration and organisation

· CISCO Certified, e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE

· ATM/MPLS WAN Design and Trouble shooting (Cisco)

· LAN Design and Trouble shooting (Cisco )

· Hardware specification and installation of Cisco and similar network equipment including network patching panels & cabling using Cat5 / Cat6 and Fibre.

· Firewalls – Specify hardware / software you have experience of using / designing – Specifically Nokia running Checkpoint FW1

· Experience with the design and implementation of a full E-Commerce solution

· Load Balancers

· Network security (e.g. VPN, IPSEC, Secure Authentication)

· Bluecoat SG

· TCP/IP.

· DNS.

· Protocol Analysis using packet captures

· Spectrum/Cisco Works/HP network management tool sets

· IP network capacity management and planning skills[n3] 

· Data centre WAN and LAN Project experience.

 

Desirable skills are:

· MCSE/MCSA/MCP Microsoft Networking

· MS Exchange

· Windows Server 2000/2003

· Desktop 2000/XP
