Network Architect
The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Architect, Network for our Technology Services Group - Network Infrastructure Services Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Essential Job Functions:
This position will be a member of the Network Infrastructure Services - Network Architecture team. This team is responsible for network architecture and design, vendor selection, creating standards and best practices, and evaluating new networking technologies for the Time Warner Cable enterprise network.
The Time Warner Cable enterprise network is nationwide and consists of several MPLS enabled privately owned gigabit regional ring infrastructures as well as a network of hundreds of site-to-site VPNs.
Candidate must be able to:
• Become a technical leader of the TWC- Network Architecture team through Voice and Data expertise and experience.
• Become one of the level-4 escalation points for all technical matters related to the TWC enterprise network.
• Work with our customers to gather highly complex network requirements to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable networking designs.
• Produce detailed low level design documents such as Visio diagrams, architecture definition documents, IP spreadsheets, technical prospectus, product support plans, device descriptions and narratives describing the function of the design.
• Configure and test networking equipment in a lab environment such as Juniper, Cisco, F5, NetScreen, Foundry, etc appliances prior to production
cutover.
• Create extensive architecture and design documents that will be used in the hand off from engineering to operations.
• Support the operations team during the transition into production.
• Provide Tier IV support when necessary, for all other tasks as assigned.
• Work with the Network Operations team to ensure sufficient documentation is generated and smooth hand offs are performed.
• Perform full product lifecycle management in specified areas of Voice and Data Networks.
• Design and implement Network solutions meeting all requirements of Security and Compliance guidelines as defined by TWC’s Corporate Risk programs.
• This individual will at times lead implementation efforts.
• Initiate and maintain extensive partnerships with key engineers, internal and external to TWC.
• Negotiate critical opportunities and issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies.
• Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature architectural judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems, program objectives and requirements, organizing programs, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse architectural activities.
This team member will report to the Network Infrastructure Services - Supervisor, Network Architecture
Job Requirements:
10+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security
Including VoIP, VPN's, McAfee IPS, enterprise routing and L2-7 switching
10+ years in enterprise network design and implementation
6+ years in QoS design and implementation
6+ years in BGP and OSPF
6+ years in firewall technologies
2+ years in MPLS network design
2+ years Cisco Wireless & VoIP
At least one of the following is required: CCIP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, JNCIS-FWV
Expert level network documentation skills including master skills with MS Visio
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong project and leadership skills
Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills
Travel 15%
Preferred Qualifications:
CISSP is preferred
- Multiple Juniper, Cisco, NetScreen, Foundry certifications preferred
- Foundry Networks experience
- Cisco Networks experience
- Juniper Networks experience
- NetScreen firewall experience
- ITIL, or Industry accepted best practices, design experience
- F5 experience
- McAfee IPS experience
Education and Experience:
Master's degree (M. A.) or higher; or equivalent training, education and experience.
