Primary Job Location: Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, Newington, VASecurity Clearance: Extensive background investigation required. Must be able to obtain initial credit and criminal check before beginning employment.Job Duties: Apogen Technologies is seeking a talented individual for a Network Analyst I position. Duties include operating and maintaining the Department of Homeland Security Enterprise Network. This position will use trouble ticketing and numerous other systems and applications, including manual and automated escalation procedures to provide service. The setting is a 24x7 network operations environment with rotating on-call responsibilities. Responsibilities include:Understand project requirements and develop high quality and highly available network designs.Monitor and maintain readiness of all network systems.Operate, maintain and provide ongoing technical support for the global enterprise network.Fulfill service level agreements including availability, performance, capacity, and security.Decode packets, understand, and troubleshoot production problems using network analyzers.Use network monitoring tools for identification of problems and troubleshooting to resolve issues.Participate in design and technology reviews, strategy meetings, and brainstorming sessions.Mentor, train, and develop other technical associates within team.Educational and Experience Requirements:Generally requires a Bachelors degree or 2 or more years of related experience with leading vendor's routers and switches, (Cisco etc.), and large multi-vendor Layer 2/3 networks. Certifications:Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) ? required or obtained within 1 year of employmentCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - required or obtained within 1 year of employmentQualificationsDesired Requirements:Strong ability to understand project requirements and develop high quality and highly available network designs.Experience with LAN/WAN troubleshooting, Network Management Systems and installation and maintenance of carrier-provided data communications circuits.Experience with configuration, implementation and maintenance of leading vendor's routers and switches, (Cisco etc.).Experience with documentation standards and network diagramming.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a team environment and/or as an individual contributor, as required.While this position description is intended to be an accurate reflection of this position, management reserves the rights to modify, add, or remove duties from particular positions and to assign other duties as necessary.
