MySQL DBA for distributed systems (Unix/Linux, Wintel)

(Duration: 2+ months / Location: Hoffman Estates, IL)

 

JOB REQUIREMETS:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, specialized computer systems training or equivalent experience.

· 5+ years of IT experience with 2+ years of recent My SQL database administration.

· 2+ years experience as an Enterprise DBA working on Linux/MySQL installations.

· Experience in supporting web applications and large volume ETL.

· Strong knowledge of database products on distributed systems (Unix and Wintel).

· Strong relational database background and SQL (Structured Query Language).

· Knowledgeable and skilled in system software and hardware.

· Good oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.

· Experience with ecommerce applications in Java/tomcat

· Experience in performing: Installations, Configuration Changes, Clustering, and Replication.

· Experience in performing: Version Upgrades, Physical Layout support using multiple storage engines, Capacity utilization analysis, Performance tuning

· Perform physical database changes.

· Develops strategies for: Archival and purging / Database backup and recovery / Database utility strategies / Tuning database and SQL queries

· Ensure database software versions are maintained, service packs applied

· Investigate, recommend or write tools & scripts to support the design and implementation of databases

· Provide technical advice and support to application developers.

· Monitor database performance, determines and implements appropriate adjustments as required.Strong performance tuning and optimization skills are a plus.
