Manager of Windows and Back end Infrastructure
Large and extremely profitable company in the Insurance and Financial Industry where the average tenor is 12+ years...no Really! Flexible and Collaborative environment. This is a SR Managers position to manager a group of 4/5 engineers and a couple of DBA's to start. Strong knowledge of Windows, VMware and Backend infrastructure as well as Storage/Symmertix. This is not a 100% hands on position but does require some when needed.JOB SUMMARY
Manages demand management, group strategic plans, and provides adjustments based on technology and business directions which are consistently more critical, highly complex, and have broader scope (providing fundamental change to technology or business direction). Establish and manage strong working relationships at the peer and executive levels. Drives and implements change and continuous improvement. Maintains breadth and depth of perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry/market trends. Carry out department direction and motivates staff to achieve direction.
JOB DUTIES -
1. Assists in the development of business and/or I/S vision, critical success factors and operating plans; develops and communicates department/enterprise vision, strategies, critical success factors and plans; develops high level migration plans. Anticipates and manages technology evolution and relates it to business solutions. Carries out direction based on alignment to business and overall technology standards.
· Manages and provides operational support for all system services in multiple locations; logical data access environments.
· Develops and implements capacity and demand management processes, governance and reporting, including service level agreements for business and data support.
· Defines individual performance objectives and development plans and ensures alignment with project and department objectives.
· Demonstrates effective leadership by providing feedback and coaching for managers and staff. Provide guidance with a strong emphasis on delegation of responsibility and accountability at the direct report level. Provide opportunities for staff development programs and technical discipline project involvement across the Investment Operations-Systems organization.
2. Hires and manages individual contributors; coaches and counsels team members. Determines and manages staffing strategy of direct reports and plan (# of FTEs, skills needed, depth of experience, internal and external staffing mix) consistent with the needs of the department. Ensures decisions related to hiring, firing and promotions are executed.
3. Appraises and evaluates department and individual performance and makes compensation recommendations; oversees the appraisal process.
4. Initiates and fosters business partnerships with current and potential clients, vendors, I/S executives, and senior business executives; develops relationships that promote trust and increase efficiency and effectiveness; balances individual client needs with business priorities assuring alignment with the business strategies and objectives.
5. Establishes financial plan for functions managed and manages to plan; ensures project financial plans are met by managers in department. Jointly establishes financial targets with business partners.
6. Oversees the development, implementation and execution of multiple projects ensuring scope and schedule are established for projects; oversees operating plan and resource allocation for the department, including prioritization and staff deployment; acts based on changed priorities.
7. Formulates and executes process and organizational improvement direction and programs which enhance overall effectiveness; proactively seeks ways to improve human resource and other management processes. Understands business process, issues/problems and applies appropriate IT standards and solutions.
8. Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts; performs or directs research on industry trends, competitors, business and IT products; analyzes trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations.
9. Ensures system, technical and product architectures are aligned with business objectives.
