Manager of State Income Tax

And they coordinate and align key activities such as locally-based services, and regional Corporate and Product Division initiatives. So as part of the team, you'll support colleagues, customers and stakeholders throughout the region - and worldwide. Corporate Tax Your Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Director of State & Local Taxes, this individual manages the state and local income & franchise tax compliance and audit functions, handles FAS 109 and Sarbanes Oxley req., and manages, trains and develops staff. With the assistance of the Senior Tax Accountant(s) and Tax Accountant(s), this individual is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of state income and franchise tax returns, extension requests and estimated tax payments, the handling/management of state income/franchise tax audits, maintenance of the state income tax compliance system and database and the review of field workpapers and peer workproduct. The individual assists management in state income/franchise tax planning to minimize corporate tax liability. The individual also manages state unemployment tax issues faced by the company. The individual has a thorough knowledge of state and local tax laws & regulations, accounting and related application of such, excellent research skills and exercises a high level of independent judgment.State Income/Franchise Tax Return Preparation, Research, System Maint.:- Management of state income/franchise tax compliance process. State FAS 109 and Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Management and development of staff. Reviewing tax returns, estimates and extensions prepared by senior tax and tax accountants. Preparation of complex combined/unitary/water's-edge income/franchise tax returns, extensions and estimated tax payments. Reviewing and modifying field workpapers. Analyzing and maintaining tax accounts and determination of state tax deferred asset. Research income tax laws. Maintaining and updating state compliance systems and tax databases.State Income/Franchise Tax Audit Management: - Management of or direct handling of state income and franchise tax audits for Philips Holding USA Inc and subsidiaries. Negotiating favorable audit settlements. State Unemployment Tax Management: - Review of current unemployment tax rates in all states to determine if possible restructuring or voluntary contributions can reduce unemployment tax costs.State Income/Franchise Tax Planning:- Assist Management in determining most state income tax efficient legal structure for current Philips entities and potential acquisitions in the US. Analysis of state effective tax rates. Your Profile: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required. Certified Public Accountant certification and/or Master's Degree in Taxation or related field required.* 7 - 10 years of financial experience, with 7 or more years direct experience in the state & local corporate income tax area required.* Thorough knowledge of state & local tax laws & regulations* Experience in preparation of combined income/franchise tax returns, handling state income tax audits, maintaining state tax compliance system, FAS 109 and ability to manage and motivate employees required. Experience managing the corporate income tax process for large multi-national corporation preferred. * Good mathematical, interpersonal, oral, written and computer skills necessary.
