Manager-Web, Graphic and Print Design Job Summary:The Center for BioSecurity department of UPMC, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is hiring a manager of web, graphic, and print design. The manager is responsible for strategizing, planning, implementing, and managing all design, technical, and production activities required to support the websites and print publications. This intermediate position is the only on-staff source of high-level design, web development, and multimedia production expertise. Responsibilities:· Assume primary responsibility and accountability for web design, production, maintenance, and functionality of sites and ensuring that the material is designed, created, published, updated, and maintained in a timely fashion.· Serve as senior technical web expert and designer/developer, responsible for providing expertise to the CIO, directing and supervising web development and production, and troubleshooting and solving problems related to the Center's websites.· Coordinate the maintenance of the Center's off-site web servers and manage the integration of the content management system (CMS) into the way the Center publishes information on the web.· Train staff across the Center to use the CMS to publish content to the website.· Keep up-to-date on web standards, policy issues, and technological developments; make recommendations for changes, upgrades, reconfigurations, and adoption of new technologies.· Serve as the in-house art director/designer for all print publications, designing, and producing print materials.· Manage the look and quality of Center media and publications by ensuring application of graphic standards to all materials and publications, web and print.· Maintain and create electronic templates for Center staff to use when creating print materials that will be produced and printed in-house Basic Qualifications:· Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in graphic design or related field strongly preferred.· Five or more years of experience as web and print designer and producer; three or more years of experience managing projects; some experience managing the work of junior staff preferred.· Strong graphic design and layout skills required; candidate should be prepared to show portfolio.· Two to three years of experience using and managing a web content management system required; familiarity with Site Executive CMS preferred.· Expert knowledge of HTML and advanced skills in web publishing software, including, but not limited to, Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks; working knowledge of Javascript, DHTML, and CSS; Working knowledge of interactive media development using Adobe Flash.· Advanced skills in print publishing, including, but not limited to, software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Professional and expert knowledge of print processes, including file preparation, paper specification, and press checks.· Strong understanding of web analytics and analysis preferred; familiarity with Google Analytics desired.· Basic understanding of web server technologies; knowledge of Windows and Linux servers preferred.· Well organized, with expert time management skills necessary to balance multiple projects concurrently, often with quick turnaround required, while not sacrificing detail and quality; attention to detail and consistency a must.· High level of professionalism and maturity is required, with ability to work independently and with clear direction, but not direct supervision.· Must be attentive and responsive to client needs, with good customer service orientation and skills.· Must be able to travel locally and domestically for events, training, and continuing education as necessary We offer a variety of benefit options designed to provide personal security, convenience, and assistance to you and your family.
