MANAGER, SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), a national alliance of over 102 academic health centers, has an immediate opening for a Manager, Systems Development in the Technology Services department.  This position is responsible for managing direct reports serving varying business units and products.  The Manager will provide conceptual designs guidance, architecture conformity and leadership on application software development projects, the main responsibility will be the day-to-day management of resources and projects as well as goal setting, performance reviews, PTO, mentoring and other day-to-day operations.   Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Approve or set high level architecture plans Ensure all requirements and specifications for applications meet the standards and quality level of the TS Department Coordinate staff interactions with other TS groups and business partners Support department management efforts in budgeting, technology procurement, planning, project staffing needs, hiring team members, team building,project planning, scheduling, reporting, change management, cost/benefit analyses, creation of and adherence to standards and procedures, etc

QUALIFICATIONS  

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with either prior managerial experience and/or demonstration of skills required to manage a group of 10-20 individuals, both in the area of administrative and project related issues and governance.  Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in application software development, and 5 years’ experience in project and/or people management. 

 Experience in one or more of these areas are required:  Advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies, Database and ETL design principles, and day-to-day management of Data Warehouses and Datamarts. Experience designing and building web based systems using Microsoft Technologies (.Net 3.5, C#, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, IIS, Visual Studio Team System, etc.) Experience implementing solutions using iterative software development approaches like SCRUM, RUP, etc. Experience leading teams of 5 or more developers through full lifecycle implementations.
