Lead Cognos Developer
Senior Developer – Cognos 8 BI and Data Warehousing
Candidate will be responsible for the overall design and development of Cognos 8 Business Intelligence and reporting database projects. Candidate will be the lead architect for multiple Cognos projects and work closely with onshore and offshore developers to collaborate on the application design and development. In this position, candidate may at times be required to develop technical scope and specification documents for customer engagements. As the lead developer, the candidate will also work closely with the client and project manager to ensure that projects are being delivered on deadline, on budget and to the complete satisfaction of the clients. Up to 50% Travel
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
· 5 years of IT experience in analysis, design, development and implementation Cognos Business Intelligence applications
· Good knowledge of various components within Cognos and how they interact with each other.
· Experience in architecture, design, development and testing of data warehouse/data mart systems.
· Solid experience creating DMR and transactional metadata models in Framework Manager utilizing best practices,
· Solid experience creating PowerPlay Transformer cube models and authoring Report Studio reports.
· Experience with installation, configuration and administration of Cognos 8 in Windows and Unix environments
· Experience migrating Series 7 reports to ReportNet or Cognos 8
· Experience designing and implementing Cognos 8 Security leveraging Cognos 8 roles and user groups.
· Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schemas
· Sound knowledge in writing SQL queries
· Experience working with or leading an offshore team is a strong plus.
· ETL development experience is a strong plus.
· Strong communication skills (email, IM and verbal) and ability to communicate with nationwide clients and overseas team members, making sure that information is clearly understood by all parties.
· Self starter with a strong desire to stretch yourself, work hard and do “whatever it takes” to get the project done.
