Skills  C, C++, SVN, Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting, Java and LinuxDESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The individual in this position will work as a member of the IT staff. The primary responsibility of this position is the development, design, integration, maintenance and administration of systems hosting various information services in a Linux/ Open Source environment.Desirable candidates will have: 4 -5 plus years Open Source experience is a must have Experience integrating, implementing and maintaining production Linux-based IT services Working knowledge of system administration scripting languages (PERL, php, Bourne shell) History participating in the entire lifecycle (planning, deployment, maintenance) of critical IT servicesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training: BS in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology with three years experience; MS in Computer Science, Information Science, or Information Technology with one year experience; or PhD in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology. Candidates with a degree in other technical fields (e.g., engineering or math) and years of relevant experience as described above will be considered as well. Experience: Candidate must have experience in the C and C++ development and on-going maintenance of Linux and other UNIX-based systems hosting database and web services in a Linux environment, a basic understanding of TCP/IP protocols, script writing and maintenance skills (e.g., Bourne shell, PERL, PHP), administrative familiarity with opensource technologies (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache, SugarCRM, gSOAP, Mule). Experience with mathematical concepts associated with social networking is a plus. Skills/Abilities: Candidate should be capable of maintaining and deploying open source software written in C, C++, Perl, et cetera with little to no technical oversight. Demonstrable skill at building software from source for medium- to large-scale production deployment is required. Ability to work in a team environment with source code versioning is required. Temperament to work in support of database administrators, software development teams, and researchers is required to perform well in this role. Environmental Conditions: Close contact with CRT for extended periods; periodic work in a computer machine room environment. Mental: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; ability to prioritize tasks; strong learning capability; ability to interact effectively with others of varying technical competency, vendors, managers, and other technical research staff; ability to work effectively with all levels of staff within Inspire Auto Finance. technical problemsolving skills. Strong information organization skills as well as good oral and written communication skills are required. Other: Evening/weekend hours may be required in order to perform service outside of normal operating hours. Our main facility is in Dallas, TX, but work will often be from home office. Candidate must be able to pass a background investigation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participates in the design/development/evolution/operation of multiple IT services in the LAMP environment. Drafts documents to describe the proper configuration/use of such services from an IT perspective when necessary. Coordinates with management and other IT support groups communicating IT requirements in well-understood manner and accommodated in cases where the scope is larger than this position (e.g., networking issues). Packages software for use change management process. Supports other Inspire Auto Finance Infrastructure production services.
