Knowledge Management Analyst - Richmond, VA

McGuireWoods LLP, one of the top law firms in the United States, has an excellent opportunity available in our Richmond, Virginia office for a Knowledge Management Analyst (Job Req #170808) in our Information Services Department.The successful candidate will support legal department, client, practice and industry team activities by enabling access to and ensuring value in the firm’s knowledge management systems and processes.  Will develop and oversee knowledge management projects for legal and administrative departments, practice groups, client teams, industry teams and the firm as a whole; develop and implement processes for collecting and vetting work product for reuse; create awareness of knowledge management initiatives through internal education in cooperation with the Managers of Staff and Attorney Training and Development.

 

Develop training materials, including user’s guides and job aids, for all knowledge management applications; conduct meetings, presentation, and training with attorneys, legal staff and clients.  Develop strategic planning to align knowledge management initiatives with those of the firm; participate in the precedent management program, including forms projects and tasks; consulting with attorneys and legal staff regarding automated forms and precedent documents; assist in the development of new KM initiatives and projects including evaluation of the firm’s needs and software available to meet those needs, as well as with the population and maintenance of the firm’s portal; will perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Requires some experience with contact management applications, case management applications, document automation, portals, intranets and extranets preferred.  Planning and organizational skills; problem solving, presentation and training skills.  Must have a degree of creativity and the ability to work with little or no supervision.  Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Requires Bachelor’s in Information Technology or equivalent work experience with certification in a recognized Knowledge Management program (e.g. Certified Knowledge Manager or Certified Knowledge Environment Engineer).  Must have three to five year’s experience in a legal field (attorney, paralegal, legal secretary) or three to five year’s experience in I/T, preferably in a law environment.
