Junior Project Manager

Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project Job Category: Project/Program Management Junior Project Manager TEKsystems' client is currently hiring for a Project Manager with 1-2 years experience managing software development projects. The project manager is responsible for managing the staff and for completing all activities for assigned projects. Day-to-Day Activities:¿ Provides direction to ensure excellence in the following areas: - Project strategy and deliverables; - Project management and documentation; - Project metric measurement and reporting; ¿ Follows documented TexasOnline CMMI processes and ensures team members follow these processes; ¿ Plans, documents, and manages all activities required for projects; ¿ Manages software requirements through entire project life cycle; ¿ Ensures timely delivery of projects within budget and with expected quality; ¿ Obtains client acceptance for all required project deliverables; ¿ Develops, tracks, and maintains budgets for all activities directly related to assigned projects; ¿ Responsible for implementation and maintenance of scope management procedures, reporting on the performance of the project, and ensuring that the business requirements are met; ¿ Identifies and documents issues and risks, offers realistic recommendations and alternatives that, if approved, achieve desired corporate and client results; proactively manages issues and risks to resolution; ¿ Effectively communicates with all levels of management, clients, government officials, alliances, peers and subordinates using all available and appropriate media to: - Set and achieve project goals; - Communicate corporate policy and values; - Relay new and/or changing priorities; and - Distribute timely information related to personnel and/or project matters; ¿ Participates in continuous process improvements which will result in greater efficiencies, improved customer service, increased revenue, and overall improved project performance;Position-specific Required Skills: ¿ Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering; ¿ Excellent written and oral communication skills; ¿ Proven experience in managing multi-faceted projects using established project management methodologies; ¿ Experience managing day-to-day relationships with clients; ¿ Proven ability to work independently, set strategy, and manage a team; ¿ At least five years experience managing projects in a rapidly changing environment; ¿ At least three years experience managing large-scale systems integration projects; ¿ At least three years experience working with government entities, especially state and local governmentsPosition-specific Desired Skills: ¿ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification ¿ Experience managing projects in a CMM or CMMI ML3 organizationRequired Skills: Software Development Lifecycle, Experience managing software projects, Follow document processesJoin TEKsystems® and get your career on the fast track.
