Senior Applications Systems Analyst


 The Senior Applications Systems Analyst is responsible for day to day activities involved in technical development and application support, with additional focus on project planning.  The Senior Applications Systems Analyst will be directly involved in conducting analysis, creating technical and end user documentation, coding, testing and end user communication.  This person provides application and technical support to project team members, and may be called upon to supervise Applications Systems Analysts on specific project functions. The Senior Applications Systems Analyst works on project teams to accomplish a variety of goals, including developing new features and enhancements.

This is an exempt Level II position reporting to the Business Systems Manager. 

Responsibilities:Communicates effectively with users and actively engages them through the development life cycle to ensure development activities are on target and meet expectationsCreates well organizaed project plans and effectively communicates proposed project goals and objects to all levels of user managementIndpendently resolves complex business and technical issues and proposes economical and feasible alternativesPerforms a variety of tasks to review, analyze, and modify business application systems including coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
Writes technical documentation including detailed design specifications to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections
Develops new features and enhancements and modifies existing applicationsEnsures quality and accuracy of development efforts by making sure development efforts adhere to standardsDevelops and documents test strategies, ensures test strategies are executed, analyzes results, and develops contigency plans as requiredConfirms that changes and enhancements meet technical specifications and user requirementsEnsures user documentation describing system modifications, enhancements and operating procedures are provided to usersUses business and technical experience to plan and accomplish project goalsMay be called upon to supervise project team members on specific project functionsProvides application and technical support to project team members as needed




QualificationsFive years experience in systems analysis and design and programming.  A working knowledge of relational databases and development experience in a multi-platform environment.  Eager to learn new application development tools and become productive quickly.  Organized and efficient.Comply with the client’s technical standards.Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with a matrixed reporting structure.  Comfortable working on mixed project teams comprised of incumbent staff and consultants.  Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and report status.  Requires a Bachelor’s degree or related experience.  Knowledge of JD Edwards OneWorld AS/400 preferred.This is a fulltime position located in Shelton, CT.
