Job Title: JAVA PROGRAMMER Company: Principal Financial Group Location: Des Moines, IA 50301 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: IT/Software Development Java Programmer with Previous Experience Wanted! Can you see yourself or someone you know representing a FORTUNE top 100 successful and reputable organization?*1  We're proud to be on FORTUNE’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, for the sixth consecutive year, and are thrilled to have jumped from #77 to #21 in the rankings!*2The Principal Financial Group is currently seeking a Java Programmer in our Des Moines, IA office.This is a fantastic opportunity to work on an operations support team in the Specialty Benefits department at the Principal Financial Group!  IT Application Analyst - Lead responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing current applications in SBD as well as mentoring junior Java programmers.  Additional responsibilities include the design of complex business solutions to meet business initiatives.  May provide leadership throughout all phases of application systems development, and will have interaction with off-shore teams.Bachelor's degree in a computer related field required and display proven experience as an IT professional; or an associate's degree/equivalent work experience.  Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products is preferred.   Previous work experience with Java/J2EE and previous experience mentoring other team members on Java/OO technologies is required.  Preferred technical experience includes XML, WebSphere, JUnit, DB2, and ClearCase. Must have excellent planning/organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, as well as basic presentation and decision-making skills.   Basic leadership skills are required; excellent time management skills are preferred.   Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.Basic knowledge of business unit applications is preferred.
