Information Architect

Position Summary:

Responsible for Internet and Intranet Information Architecture (IA). Position will work closely with business sponsors, e-business and IT leads to develop user-centered solutions of varying sizes—from enterprise-wide applications to smaller maintenance or seasonal projects. Design professional with 3+ years of demonstrable experience leading information architecture development for web-based projects: strong analytical skills that can translate business and user requirements into supportive experiences and effectively communicate solutions, both visually and verbally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of scoping, architecting, and design

• Define the user model and user interface for new Swagelok interactive experiences including e-commerce and knowledge management scenarios.

• Partner with business owners and the project team to define an experience that meets business and user goals

• Translate specific use cases and business rules into a recommended approach

• Develop high-level and/or detailed user scenarios, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas

• Consult with technical leads to determine feasibility of the recommended approach

• Produce the detailed functional specifications required to implement design

• Gauge the usability of new and existing features, and make constructive and reasonable suggestions for change

• Work with graphic designers and developers to realize the blueprint

• Support the QA process through integration and end-to-end testing

• Monitor user feedback, in the forms of research, usability studies, site data and customer service inquiries to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

• Assist the e-writer and/or key stakeholders in developing layout, taxonomy and experience of business unit content

Position Requirements:

Education:

• B.A. in a related field, such as interaction design, HCI, communications or library science. M.A. preferred.

Experience:

• 3+ years of demonstrable experience leading information architecture projects, preferably with a retail or transactional focus. Will also consider less experience with strong academic background in Information Architecture/Design.

Skills: Strong analysis and communication skillsUnderstanding of constraints of designing for the web, including HTML, Web browser capabilities across multiple platforms, and new technologies.Web Site Navigation & TaxonomyWebsite UsabilityKnowledge of/experience with a range of user research and testing methodologies including usability testing.
