IT TEST MANAGER

Play a key role in our future success: Job DescriptionPerson will be responsible for managing and directing associates across matrix testing team to deliver high quality business application solutions and for setting the goals and direction of the team in order to achieve division objectives. Provide focused activities, tasks, and expert mentorship to the testing team. Set performance objectives and metrics. Create and manage teams budget. Stay informed of technical trends and makes recommendations for process, tool, or environments as needed. Establish and maintain business relationships. Ensure fulfillment of high quality deliverables to business units. Effectively communicates with the team, the business units, and all levels of management. Test Manager will be responsible for managing testing activities across multiple applications and components. The role will support a wide variety of applications. The Test Manager will aid in the design, documentation, and implementation of test plans for new projects and report and manage defects for new and existing products/applications, and help develop test automation solutions as needed. The candidate will possess strong technical and test automation skills and have experience testing enterprise system software. Person is responsible for test methodologies that ensure exhaustive testing of all assigned software systems to ensure compliance with system specifications. Candidate should possess strong interpersonal and technical skills to work effectively with internal and external customers in order to resolve software defects. Major Areas of Responsibilities: Provide leadership for project teams regarding the overall project testing scope and issue resolution. Develop and maintain a test strategy. Create test plan in unison with overall project plan. Establishing project testing priorities. Produce formal testing team standards and procedures, and monitor and update testing team standards and procedures in support of continuous process improvement. Track testing schedule/progress and costs. Negotiate deliverables of testing. Manage changes which affect testing and associated risks. Co-ordinate testing resources which include appropriate planning and management of the test resources. Accountable for overseeing the Test Engineers in the Test Design activities. Ensure the quality of project deliverables (scripts). Train test team. Implement process improvements for the testing process. Analyze and direct all aspects of verification, including functional, structural, regression, load and system testing. Collaborate with Test Engineers, Developers and Business Analysts as needed to resolve problems and identify the root cause of product defects and/or usability concerns. Ensure quality of documentation, troubleshoot and isolate problems encountered during testing, evaluate and communicate test execution results and issues with Test Engineers, Product Managers, Product Support, and other QA resources as needed. Oversee design, development and implementation of complex test automation both at the functional and system level. Work with other members of Compass project teams to improve our processes, tools, methods, effectiveness and efficiency. Identify, propose, and implement test planning, quality metrics and process improvements to help facilitate the testing process. Measure system performance on multi-user platforms through automated test scenarios and provide improvement recommendations. Ensure technical documentation and systems are in agreement. Monitor product quality and reject non-compliant software.Necessary Ingredients: BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and professional work experience. Knowledge in estimation practices with ability to guide and mentor other using specific techniques. Ability to communicate, motivate and engage various levels of staff in areas of Quality Assurance competencies. A minimum of 5 years cumulative experience developing or testing enterprise-class software with 3 years experience testing system software and 1-3 years as Test Manager Good functional knowledge of technology. A strong technical background coupled with in-depth experience testing or developing software for enterprise applications. Extensive background in QA methodologies and experience developing and executing comprehensive test suites for packaged application and system software. Demonstrated ability to handle/organize multiple complex technical projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated team player to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team and thrive on technical challenges. Experience documenting, implementing, and executing a defect/change request tracking methodology. Experience in selecting and applying industry standards and/or frameworks (ITIL, CObit, PMBOK, CMMI, ISO, etc.) Experience with automated test tools such as IBM's Rational suite, Mercury WinRunner, and LoadRunner is a plus.Great People.
