IS/IT Project Engineer
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Defense and Maritime Solutions Business Unit is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Military Sealift Command (MSC) Team at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Working with project teams, project engineers will assist in initial surveys, design, developing standard operating procedures (SOP) and the installation and configuration of the hardware/software based on requirements.
Responsibilities include assisting in evaluating alternative solutions to meet functional and technical requirements, developing implementation strategies, assisting in preparing detailed plans, and leading the Project Engineering team to execute those plans.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must have an understanding of and/or experience with a wide variety of information technology infrastructures including hardware (servers), LAN, Windows server, UNIX, TPC/IP. Must have good communications skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to others.
DESIRED SKILLS: A working knowledge of Navy and DOD networks, the Navy and Marine Core Internet and DOD information assurance is a plus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field plus three years of hands-on experience with a variety of IT systems.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be US Citizen capable of obtaining a Secret Clearance.
