Job Category:Technology Primary Location:USA-VA: VIRGINIA-FALLS CHURCHSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Standard Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 2008-09-02Description: Job Summary:The Platform & End-User Services global portfolio includes Platform Services (i.e. mainframe, server, web-hosting); Storage Services; End-User Services; and Data Center/Facilities Services. The CSC Global Analyst, Platform & End-User Services is a member of the Global Platform & End-User Services Portfolio Executive (GPE) staff. At CSC, the GPE is responsible for the long-term strategy and go-to-market plan for a global portfolio of services and solutions. The Global Analysts play a key role in the development of CSC's global solutions and services portfolio strategy by tracking market movement (competitive and buyer) and translating these moves into strategic qualitative and quantitative reports that drive Global Portfolio Executive strategies and decisionmaking. In addition, the Global Analyst is responsible for working with the Global and Regional Portfolio Directors to identify implications of trends in support of strategic market planning and region-specific marketing and sales initiatives. The role is responsible for supporting Global Portfolio Directors in - Collecting, tracking and analyzing internal and external market and buyer data to develop customer insight. Evaluating analyst reports and other secondary research Clearly presenting data and the implications of information on the market and on executed CSC strategies. Developing and evaluating pricing strategies; developing related forecasts for margin erosion Seeking new market opportunities within the company's distinctive competence Initiating market research and sizing markets Documenting market problems (both existing customers and future customers) Analyzing offering performance and sales success Documenting offering profitability and operational metrics Determining buy/build/partner decisions Positioning the product for all markets and all buyers Providing high-level market and cross-product requirements Maintaining the product family roadmap The ability to interpret, evaluate and develop integrated analyses from multiple sources, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously is critical. In addition, proven experience in market research and competitive analysis, and excellent business communication skills will be highly beneficial in this role. Essential Job Functions:Technology: Develops competitor intelligence reports for inputting into knowledge management systems. People: Works with senior management in crafting strategies based on solid research and analysis. Ability to represent CSC in discussions with analysts, partners and clients. Customer: Identifies opportunities for leveraging partner's products and services in conjunction with CSC's to create value propositions for current and potential customers. Conducts non-intrusive research on customer needs, wants, desires to craft qualitative analyses on high-level offering requirements. Business: Evaluates intellectual property in the market to facilitate build, buy or partner decisions. Financial: Ensures that alliance partnerships are financially or strategically advantageous to CSC. Collects and evaluates cost and price benchmarking data. Develops pricing strategies and forecasts based on operational data and external benchmarks.
