GIS Technician
GIS Technician
DQSI is hiring GIS Specialists to perform the following tasks:
· Scan geologic and engineering data from hard copy and add to digital file stored in the corporate datastore
· Geo-reference TIFF maps
· Enter metadata for TIFFs and geo-referenced maps
· Move digital maps and test from individual Unit folders and add to digital file stored I the corporation datastore
· Add and / or modify bookmarks in digital file
· Quality check and resolve discrepancies in legend-type information on,maps and text
The ideal candidate will have Bachelors or Associates degree in GIS or a related field, have experience using ArcGIS 9, be detail oriented, able to follow established procedures.
Qualifications:
· Working knowledge of computers, Access, Adobe, and databases
· Scanning experience
· Data entry experience
· Ability to resolve data discrepancies
· Ability to learn limited tasks in Geologic Interpretative Tolls software
· Ability to work well with other employees
· Knowledge of geology and associated data
· Ability to work alone with little supervision
The work location: New Orleans, La. (Elmwood Park Area)
Candidate must be able to pass a standard security investigation and background check prior to the start of work
