Position Description:

Official Job Title: Enterprise Messaging System Administrator/Analyst IISector / Department: Infrastructure and Operations, Information Services DepartmentPOSITION OVERVIEW STATEMENT The Enterprise Messaging System Administrator/Analyst II will contribute to a team that is responsible for all functions associated with the daily operations of the Laboratory's messaging environment. The candidate will work closely with IT and customer groups at the Laboratory to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions and support services that provide substantial value to the business. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have an established reputation in the Exchange messaging arena. A certain degree of flexibility of schedule is required as some work must be done outside of major production hours during pre-scheduled maintenance windows. JOB RESPONSIBILITES Monitor Exchange 2007 servers and analyze the overall messaging system to ensure 100% uptime operational availabilityCreate and manage mailboxes and distribution groups; pro-actively manage mail storesTroubleshoot and resolve performance issuesPerform routine maintenance for approximately 4,000 mailboxesSupport the Laboratory's Blackberry enterprise server environmentPerform root cause analysis and provide recommendations to improve efficiencies and resolve problems within the messaging systemsWork closely with key vendors and escalate problems as necessaryImplement and maintain disaster recovery solutions as they relate to the messaging infrastructureDocument system uptime and usage metricsMaintain documentation of processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides and change management logsREQUIREMENTS:B.S. in computer science, MIS or related technical discipline, or relevant work experience.A minimum of 4 years experience maintaining large-scale IT projects at increasing levels of responsibility. Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 experience in large enterprise environments (equivalent experience with Active Directory). Blackberry Enterprise server and handhelds (Windows Mobile/Exchange ActiveSync a plus) experience. Understanding of Microsoft Exchange architecture and server roles including configuration and troubleshooting of client access solutions and mail routing. Demonstrated project management experience Familiarity with Disaster Recovery for AD and Exchange.Familiarity with various IT technologies and platforms, including servers, storage, databases, web, networks and firewalls. Familiarity with email archiving technologies and storage solutions a plus. MCSE in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to express ideas and facts clearly, tailoring communication to the intended audience. Ability to document complex technical issues clearly.Excellent planning and organizational skills.Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as a team member under minimal supervision and direction.
