E*TRADE is made up of some of the brightest and most talented people in the industry - are you ready to join the industry leader?Position Overview:E*Trade Financial is looking for a senior level engineer to help create and maintain UNIX based servers that power the E*Trade Financial business lines. The ideal candidate is goal oriented, has the ability to handle interruptions while fluidly switching between several projects, and has a work smart not harder approach.Primary Responsibilities: Work within the Systems Engineering group maintaining and developing infrastructure. Configure customized Solaris and Linux distributions. Package and patch integration and management. Develop and extend tools to maintain and monitor deployments. Assess, document, present, and mentor project assignments. Provide production support. Train and Mentor System Administrators and operators.Minimum Professional and Technical Skills:Qualifications: 5+ years experience with UNIX. 4+ years experience with Linux. 2+ years running large production systems. (Several hundred) Solaris and Linux package management. Extensive knowledge of webservers, NFS, DNS, NIS, SMTP, NTP. Solid H/W understanding of SPARC and Intel based systems. Understanding of load balancer technologies Programming/scripting skills (Korn, Perl, C).Desirable skills: Working knowledge of load balancers. Working knowledge of Veritas Volume Management. Working knowledge of Veritas Cluster Services. Extensive programming background in any applicable language. Publication within the field of system administration.Minimum Education, Certification, Training: Bachelors Degree degree in computer science or a related field.
