Southwest College trains students to be Naturopathic Doctors, in a four year, post graduate program. Naturopathic doctors treat disease and restore health using natural therapies (like homeopathy, botanical medicine, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and manipulation). This position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The Director of IT designs, develops, implements and evaluates administrative and academic computing and communications systems including planning, budgeting, and acquisition and allocation of personnel and resources in support of the strategic objectives of the college. This position also manages college and medical center communication and computer systems, local area networks, classroom technology, and library computer labs. The Director leads the integration of information technology into academic, clinical and research activities. The person in the role will advise the Executive Council on information technology issues, and will serve as a resource to the Faculty and Staff Senate. The Director will participate as a member on a variety internal and external committees, task forces and organizations relevant to the college interests. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages two direct reports, a Network Administrator and an IT Technician;
· Maintains a positive work environment conducive to promoting an atmosphere of cooperation with students, patients, peers, faculty and administration;
· Plans, directs and evaluates the strategic direction, policies and procedures for the development and operation of an information services department which includes networking, hardware, software, telecommunications and user support;
· Oversees campus-wide information technology infrastructure and information technology requirements ensuring the various networks are integrated;
· Ensures campus-wide customer service conferring with and advising users on procedures, methods, technical concerns and budgets;
· Oversees the administration, management and implementation of telecommunications at the college and medical center;
· Manages the security issues of the network and systems;
· Oversees maintenance and administration of the organizations databases, including: Jenzabar (SQL based ERP system), JICS (e-learning system), Lytec, Contact management database, development databases and other databases not specifically mentioned here;
· Directs all network topology changes and administration of all enterprise routers, switches and firewalls;
· Oversees, manages, designs or implements application projects in all systems including; academic, clinical, human resources, student information, financial services, library, advancement, email, and course management;
· Plans, prepares and administers the department budget;
· Coordinates purchases for all IT needs of the college including desktops, servers, software, hardware, licenses, and warranties; Conducts cost benefit analyses of proposed systems purchases;
· Maintains liaison with outside vendors, solicits bids, develops RFP”S, selects vendors, and negotiates fees;
· Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems;
· Recommends new applications and new configurations and assesses the technological capacity to meet the future needs of the college;
· Provides guidance and training in response to student and faculty and staff learning needs;
Qualifications:Bachelors in Information Management or Business Administration with an emphasis on information technology or any combination that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Masters degree preferred.Minimum 4 years experience in supervising and organizing computing and telecommunications services and programs. Educational or non-profit environment preferred.Knowledge of current administrative and management practices; information system development including development, implementation and integration of on-line systems and networks; database management and telecommunications systems; appropriate computer languages; applications and changes of hardware and software packages associated with computing systems; budgeting and strategic planning processes.Ability to maximize the use of facilities, hardware, software and resources; prepare and evaluate bid documents and negotiate contracts; supervise staff; manage project schedules; analyze interpret and prepare reports; organize work flow; prepare and monitor budgets; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.Knowledge of or familiarity withWindows 2003 Server, Active Directory, Cisco, Database Management (SQL 2005), TCP/IP, IIS, Enterprise Level Back-up, anti-virus, and SPAM software.
