Developer IV

Description:The Shared Architecture Development Team is responsible for all software application delivery and maintenance, including technical design, software development, implementation and support for shared architecture components. The Senior Java Developer will be assigned to one or more project teams. As a member of a project team, the Senior Java Developer will assume various roles including leadership positions as well as design, code and test roles.* Work with other members of the project team and business owners to refine and clarify business requirements.* Produce technical specifications from project requirements.* Code and test software to meet ING DIRECT standards and within acceptable defect tolerances of design specifications.* Provide input to assist in overall team process improvement and product design stability.* Support and review the work of other developers.* Properly track progress, effort, issues and resolutions.* Communicate and document status to project leadership.* Work with IT and business test groups to support quality and acceptance tests.* Assign development activities to self and other developers. Track progress of assigned activities.* Ensure that all code retains logical stability, reliability, confidentiality, and integrity of ING DIRECT's systems is in accordance with ING DIRECT policies, procedures and guidelines, taking appropriate actions for all violations.Non-Project and Cross-Project Functions:* Provide technical leadership and mentor others in general technical skills as well as ING DIRECT applications and processes.* Provide input into general architectural decisions and design stability.* Provide input to assist in team and project process improvement.Qualifications:* 5 years work experience developing applications a must.* Experience with multi-tier system design and implementation.Education and/or Certifications:* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.Technical skills and abilities:* In-depth knowledge Java.* In-depth knowledge of J2EE design patterns.* In-depth knowledge of web content presentation methods (HTML, XSL, etc.).* In-depth knowledge of JDBC and SQL.* Additional experience should include Windows desktop and server applications (such as MS Office and SQL Server), some Unix, and basic hardware systems. * Solid interpersonal skills.* Ability to communication clearly in written and verbal form.* Exceptional problem solving abilities.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceING DIRECT offers one of the best benefits plans around, providing medical and dental health coverage; flexible spending accounts; 401K retirement plans and fitness programs.Job Location: Wilmington, DEJob Number: 6284Company Profile:Why join the ING DIRECT team?
