Job Title: Design and User Experience (UE) Manager
Location: London or Boston
General Description
The Design and (UE) Manager is responsible for leading a team of designers in creating and maintaining Cheapflights web sites. The goal is to create a compelling, easy to use site that serves the needs of our users and our partners. You will lead the Design and Usability strategy, set priorities and assure delivery of high quality content for all web sites. You and your team will work closely with product management, product development, content and commercial teams. You should have a well rounded understanding of web strategy, designing for the web and usability as it applies to online content sites.
You and your team ensure that designs and content solutions are strategic, compelling and support business requirements into workable, user focused solutions that support the Cheapflights vision.
The position reports to the Global Product Director.
Responsibilities:Manage the Design team of designers to:
o Create, edit and maintain content for all Cheapflights websites, both new features and on-going sustaining development
o Define design strategy (including creation, editing and execution) with strong application of IA principles
o Create, maintain and communicate the Cheapflights design guidelines
o Implement web site guidelines and standards for a highly attractive and usable look and feel, in support of Cheapflights brand
o Ensure that prototypes are available for testing and development useWork closely with product, marketing and commercial teams on:General site strategy and business discussions/assessmentAssistance of user testing deployment and strategyAssist product management in authoring design requirements for functional specsWork with developers on implementation items relating to content requirementsSupport SEO strategies and planningWork with web analytics to access success of site changesManagementSet goals and objectives for all team members and conduct performance reviewsDefine and manage budget requirementsManage and define external contracts for a variety of items, including; All content providers, contractors etc.
Background:Extensive and proven experience in web design requiredProven management experience desiredStrong background in design strategies for large complex websitesExperience managing vendors and free lancersKnowledge of website analytics and defining metrics for assessing successA critical eye for detail and the ability to translate complex concepts into easy-to-use interfaces Proven experience in contributing to large complex delivery plans. Experience with PS, Illustrator, Flash, Java, Javascript, CSS, MS Word, Powerpoint, Visio, HTML and other web design toolsOnline travel experience a plusExperience in organising large bodies of information within a CMS Educated to Graduate level or with equivalent experience
