Speakeasy’s broadband services are available in most metropolitan areas within the 48 contiguous United States. Position Summary:  In this hands-on position, the candidate will be responsible for assuring the consistent and efficient operation of Speakeasy’s points of presence (POPs) and data centers in major cities across the U.S.. This position is based in Dallas, Texas.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage vendor installs of cabinets, AC/DC power runs, and structured cabling. Manage day to day operations of our Dallas data center. Work with other business groups to manage and deliver data center capacity. Handle physical installation and setup of all POP equipment (routers, switches, network servers, co-located servers, UPS, Rack-mount PDUs) Install and configure server hardware upgrades, multi-port serial devices, and monitoring/console hardware Coordinate with co-location facility staff for rack installation requirements Perform maintenance and improvements on POP facilities and equipment Identify, dress, test, label all POP/data center cabling, switches, servers, cabinets, and data ports Perform ticket-based racking and stacking of equipment. Perform physical auditing and quality control on all installations Insure CMDB data accuracy. Perform maintenance on HVAC, UPS equipment, and power switching equipment Create processes, procedures and run-books for data center operation. Maintain and grow business relationships with vendors and remote site staff. Coordinate with third-party companies for shipping, installation, and removal of co-located servers and equipment at remote sites Define SOWs and quality standards for facility work by third-party contractors Ensure all hardware is tagged and tracked by the company according to defined procedures for asset management The position requires the following skills and experience: Ability to plan and execute projects, self-starter with a good attitude and a desire to succeed. Ability to communicate effectively, both internally to peers and externally to vendors Ability to work with others as a team Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, TCP/IP, networking, and server infrastructure Experience with server hardware installation, and troubleshooting Previous experience working in a data center Knowledge of AC/DC power systems, including power loading and phase balancing, as well as installation Knowledge of generator back-up systems; both installation and maintenance Experience with data center power management Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds for an extended period of time Self motivation and extreme attention to detail Install, test, validate, certify, and troubleshoot MMF and SMF fiber optic, and copper EIA/TIA 568A and EIA/TIA 568B cabling in the ISP (Inside Plant Setting), Experience following TIA-942 standards.
