Senior Systems Administrator/DBA


We are looking for a seasoned Senior Web Systems Administrator to join our Online Publishing Group, which the leading sources of information for IT professionals worldwide.

 

To succeed in this position you will have to be a larger than life individual with the experience and drive to keep these world class websites operational as the typical reader is you.  This position is not for the timid or faint of heart.  You must live and breathe

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years of Linux/Unix systems administration and 2-5yrs of Oracle/MySQL database administration.  Solid hands-on experience required with most of the following technologies and concepts:  Oracle DB/RAC, MySQL Master/Slave, MySQL Proxy, various Linux distros, Solaris 10, Veritas/Symantec Cluster Services, Veritas/Symantec Netbackup, load balancing, distributed architecture.

 

Knowledge in shell scripting, java, php, Nagios and Cacti is
preferred. Experience with Apache, Weblogic, Resin, JBOSS, Oracle RDBMS/RAC, NetScaler, Big IP, firewall and IPS familiarity is a plus.

 

You must work well as part of a team, have strong analytical and communication skills.  As well as keeping the websites available to five 9s, the goal is to keep you energized and forward thinking.  This is not just another job ... you have to love what you do.

 

As part of the team this position will be required to participate in the 24x7 rotating emergency response team.  Limited travel may be available.

 

Excellent communication is required. You must be eligible to work as a Full Time Employee without the need of sponsorship.
