Computer Operator
Job Title Computer Operator
This position will most likely be a night shift 3 days a week but candidate needs to be open to all shifts.
All candidates will need to pass a credit check and a Criminal Background check before starting.
Excellent pay for right candidate, Synova offers medical and 401K while on contract.
Job Requirements
· 5+ Years experience in a computer operator position
· Working knowledge and experience with:
- Scheduling systems -Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS) Maestro Job Scheduler is a MUST
- Backup and Recovery software (such as CommVault or NetBackup)
- Systems Monitoring (such as HP OpenView, Tivoli, BMC Patrol, or CA Unicenter)
- Knowledge of Cluster management software (such as Veritas Cluster Service or VMWare) is preferred but not required
- Unix knowledge is a big plus
· Knowledge of Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows operating systems
· Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
· Ability to multi-task several mission critical tasks and projects with little supervision
· Flexibility in working hours is required.
· Knowledge of industry standards and practices of a multi platform data center is helpful.
Job Abstract Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, Global Operations, the computer operator works as a part of a multi-shift environment, supporting 7x24x365 operations. The successful candidate can work independently, on any shift, performing all the duties of a computer operator including monitoring systems and troubleshooting to maintain high service levels to our client base, scheduled job processing, and backups and restores of files and files systems on Solaris and Windows operating systems.
The candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating progress and responsibility in their career, good verbal and written communication skills, flexibility to work multiple shifts including weekends as needed, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Other Location: Boston and Marlborough
Estimated Duration: 11 Months with high probability of extensions in 2009
Target Start Date: ASAP
Work Hours: - work night shift (13 1/2 hours as our F/T ops do - though it can be reduced to 12 hours candidate is unable to do that long)
Additional Information: The primary work site location has not yet been determined, but the IS Consultant must be able to work back and forth between Boston and Marlborough based on work load, projects and business needs.
Must be able to pass a credit check (credit history should not have any liens, charge offs,collections, foreclosures of more than 5000.00) No felony convictions or pending criminal charges.
