Job Category:Operations Services Primary Location:USA-VA: VIRGINIA-ALEXANDRIASchedule:Full-time Job Type:Standard Employee Status:Regular No Job Posting: 2008-08-18Description: Essential Job Functions Develops and maintains account/region standards and procedures to ensure that configuration management controls are capable of supporting deployment activities and implementations to meet business needs. Interprets configuration management activities and tools as defined for the account and applies them to project activities. Works with the project manager to develop configuration management plans, milestones, and schedules for projects. Revises and assists in implementing new strategy as appropriate. Decomposes configuration items into appropriate configuration units for the specific project or task. Identifies problem issues and recommends solutions as appropriate. Ensures version control integrity for software and non-software components by reviewing account requirements. Establishes approach for resolving discrepancies to ensure requirements are met. Performs audits for projects or accounts according to the configuration management plans. Ensures baselines are established and approved by the appropriate control board. Develops initial technical installation guidelines and other documentation of hardware and software standards to facilitate tracking. Assists customers and support personnel in understanding product configuration. Assists the lead for assigned accounts/regions. May assist and/or provide limited direction to lower level technical personnel. Supports application software, configuration and requirements management through IBM Rational Tool Suite, including ClearCase, ClearQuest, Requisite Pro and ClearQuest Test manager. Administers ClearCase/ClearQuest and ClearCase with UCM for configuration and build management. Creates/maintains ClearQuest enabled UCM project structure, including streams and baselines. Mentor developer community in Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest usage.Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, or related field preferred Six or more years of configuration analysis experience Experience working with distributed computer systems, software and associated communication networks Experience working with networking principles and local area networks Experience working with company software and hardware products Other Qualifications Good skills in configuring and installing various operating systems and application software Communication skills to interact with team members, customers, and support personnel Good analytical and problem solving skills to resolve technological problems Basic leadership skills to instruct and mentor less experienced personnel Ability to work independently and as part of a team Three to four years experience as ClearCase/ClearQuest administrator Three to four years experience maintaining environments for software development as appropriate for each project Three to four years experience with assisting developer community with tools and processes as necessary Three to four years experience with Perl scripting (or equivalent skill set in a scripting language).
