CS Data Governance Technical Lead

Description:CS Data Governance Technical Lead eBay Customer Support Infrastructure. This position is responsible for the continued development and evolution of the Customer Support (CS) taxonomy and ensuring that the systems and services that are built to consume it adhere to sound semantic technology principles. The goal of the CS taxonomy is to ensure that we can effectively capture and classify the knowledge that is relevant to all phases and aspects of each member interaction. This will help facilitate interdepartmental communication, improve the performance of CS systems and processes, and provide a more consistent and informative customer experience. The CS taxonomy will tie together all of the services of the Agent Desktop platform (e.g. Case Creation, Research, Resolution, Knowledge Base, etc.). To support those goals, one of the responsibilities of this position will be to actively manage the Proteacute platform and identify and lead efforts to extend Proteacute in-line with emerging needs. The incumbent will report to the CS taxonomy manager and will be expected to lead engagements with the Product Development teams and to engage with the executive level steering committee and the extended taxonomy management team as appropriate.Responsibilities will include: Lead the continued development and evolution of the CS taxonomy to ensure that it conforms to sound ontological principles and supports appropriate reasoning and inference.Mentor team members on principles of concept modeling and semantic technologies.Manage the use and future development of Protégé and related tools within eBay.Lead taxonomy related business requirements definition and ensure that the services that provide access to the taxonomy conform to sound semantic principles.Understand the different ways that applications and services currently consume the taxonomy and ensure that potential conflicts are identified and mitigated.Collect and report on taxonomy-specific metrics and audit compliance with taxonomy structure guidelines.Participate in CS Leadership meetings as required.Qualifications:5-10 years of relevant experience and can include experience gained in a related post-graduate degree program. Experience modeling concepts and creating and managing large and complex taxonomies. Preferably using Proteacute. Experience with key semantic web (RDF, OWL, etc.) and related technologies (AJAX, GWT, J2EE, etc.). Knowledge of C++ and Java a plus. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop cohesive working relationships with business users, technical team members, and executives. Post Graduate degree in BioInformatics or related field preferred. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex business and technical topics to a wide array of business, technical, and executive audiences. Demonstrate the ability to coordinate and manage multiple concurrent projects. Possess superior analytical, problem solving, and organization skills.
