COMM - Sr. Project Manager Are you looking for a unique opportunity with a progressive and growing organization? If so, CGI is actively searching for a seasoned Project Manager to lead projects involving our large financial institution clients throughout the New York & New Jersey RegionPosition description:Ideally the project manager we are seeking has prior “in the trenches” experience.This means at least five years of prior experience working as a developer, business analyst, or tester during a full project lifecycle in a Financial Services industry. Prior work experience must include producing one or more of the following types of documentation: General designs, detailed designs, test plans, test cases, use cases, requirement specifications.Key Attributes:The candidate should be well-rounded in IT.Must appreciate different software development lifecycles (SDLC, Agile, RUP) and have experience in enforcing processes to support the development lifecycle.Must appreciate the various forms of software architecture (solutions, data, technical, business).Key Experience Areas:The candidate should have implementation understanding of business process reengineering, workflow management, billing systems, filenet technology, and general web development.Ideally the candidate would be familiar with the RUP Methodology.The candidate should understand the configuration management process.Ideally the candidate would have prior supervisory experience.At least two years serving in a project management capacity Direct supervision (including performance reviews) of at least three employees having a total span of control (the people reporting to your direct reports) of at least 20 employees. Ideally the candidate would have consulting project management experience.At least two completed projects lasting nine months or more in which the candidate had responsibility for the multiple aspects (requirements gathering, testing, construction) of the software delivery process. Demonstrated skills in using MS Project to develop project plans, including the identification of individual tasks and milestones. Experience in developing master project plans that incorporate interdependencies from other projects. Experience in cooperating and coordinating with third-parties (e.g. hardware vendors, other delivery organizations) to deliver projects for a common client.Demonstrated skills in issue and risk management procedures. Superior client communication skills in presentations and in email Experience in managing statements of work (i.e. contracts) and project financials To summarize, we need somebody with previous experience in a rank-and-file business analysis or delivery role who has moved on to a project management role that entails direct supervision. Obviously we want people who have been in the consulting environment and are used to dealing with all of the complexities of big-time IT projects (other vendors, multiple concurrent initiatives, etc. There needs to be a balance between a willingness to get one’s hands dirty to understand a problem while being able to delegate enough to stay out of the details and let your managers handle the issues while you handle the client.
