APPLICATION SYSTEMS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER

Position Summary:

The Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer modifies application programs from detailed specifications. Codes, tests, debug documents and maintain those programs. Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities, but requires instruction and guidance in other phases. This position reports directly to the Supervisor Applications Development and may be assigned other duties as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Produce structured or Object-Oriented (OO) coding specifications from informal customer/architects' requests and/or written logical design specifications

- Design, create, modify and maintain programming modules/components for one or more business systems, including coding front-end interfaces, database integration and middle tier components

- Design, create, modify and maintain program interfaces, such as communications between programs

- Participate in the development of extraction and transformation programs to the data warehouse and multidimensional database engines across the enterprise

- Participate in systems analysis, design and testing meetings

- Knowledge of ERP application components with specific business systems experience in at least two of the five business areas

- Produce, modify and maintain 'programmer level' documentation for customer product and system level documentation

- Provide 3rd level support

- Report effort and duration to Project Managers and/or Supervisor

 

Position Requirements:

Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Business

Experience:

- 2+ years of experience of programming in mainframe, client/server or Web-based environments, 2+ years of extensive maintenance programming in one or more Business System

Skills:

- Effective graphical user interface (GUI) design/coding, usability tests design/scripting, systems documentation, structured and OO analysis, Dynamic Link Library knowledge, DBMS middleware, Structured Query Language (SQL) programming.

- Knowledge of structured and OO coding techniques for one or more routes such as application improvement, package customization and/or new development. Strong skills required in at least two of the following tools: C++, COBOL, Rdb, VB, Mantis, SQLServer and Java.
