Location: Chicago, IL 60606Your location:home   »  find a job   »  advanced search   »  job description Apply Online Send this Job to a Friend Description:A company located in Chicago is looking for someone who will play a pivotal role both in providing systems support and in being an integral part of future services offered to the companies patients and clients.In this position you will support Cerner Millennium application software systems while ensuring that the needs of the companies clinical staff are met. Functions as liaison between the IS department and client user community. Participates in gathering and documenting functional requirements. Designs, codes/configures, tests, implements and supports existing and future Cerner applications in the healthcare environment. Implements software and enhancements in a timely and cost-effective manner utilizing company's development methodology.Responsibilities:1.     Support current Cerner Millennium environment. 2.     Develop and retain relationships with clinical staff. 3.     Identify and document business requirements and modified business processes. 4.     Translate business requirements into system design, ensuring that systems deliver the desired capabilities to meet the needs of the users. 5.     Develop system design specifications taking into consideration the provision of quality patient care, user needs, and potential for cost savings through the reduction of work steps. 6.     Configure Cerner Millennium modules. 7.     Develop detailed Unit Test plans, execute tests to verify code developed satisfies design requirements, and update code/configuration based on results. 8.     Develop and document System Test and User Acceptance Test plans based on functional specifications. 9.     Work with fellow IS staff and users during System Test and User Acceptance Test phases of the development lifecycle. As system bugs are detected, troubleshoot errors, modify code and re-execute test scripts. 10. Plan and perform conversion steps, which include converting current data and monitoring performance of new system functions. 11. As dictated by the Manager, enhance existing applications software to deliver System Change Requests (SCRs) for users. 12. Develop end-user training for applications software as needed. 13. Work with clinical representatives after the conclusion of projects to measure results of the initiatives. 14. Assist with product selection based on identified business/functional requirements. Qualifications:1.     Undergraduate degree in information systems (e.g., Computer Science) or degree in clinical care (e.g., RN, PT, OT etc.). Appropriate certifications a plus. Work experiences can replace traditional educational requirements. 2.     At least four years experience in an Information Systems applications role. 3.     Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with IS peers and user community to effectively deliver systems based on user needs. 4.     Analytical skills necessary to analyze business problems and apply technology to resolve issues and/or increase operational efficiency of the patient care process. 5.     Ability to pay close attention to details when designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining system functions. 6.     Organizational skills necessary to coordinate the completion of tasks independently as well as with others to meet established deadlines. 7.     Personal computer skills necessary to prepare flowcharts, presentations, design specifications, test plans, project plans, etc. 8.     Knowledge of healthcare business processes in one or more area. 9.     Ability to support one or more area of existing Cerner modules. 10. Ability and willingness to learn new tools and Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) to be identified as part of the future core applications toolset. 11. Knowledge of and experience with applications software lifecycle and software development methodologies. 12. Ability to manage systems implementation projects of varying scale. 13. Experience working within Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office tools.14.
