Veritas Backup Administrator

Description




Supports the storage environment and application of backup hardware and backup management software in support of an enterprise backup system. Works with the Storage Team in undertaking this responsibility.

Determines and analyzes the customer's requirements and then works with the team to develop and implement solutions to meet these requirements.

Works collectively to design, configure, maintain, and enhance an information systems infrastructure while a member of a larger team consisting of MS, UNIX and Linux system administrators and database administrators

Troubleshoots network infrastructure, network communication protocols (TCP/IP, etc.) as it relates to storage and backups.

Administers and designs NetBackup based backup systems, including use of NetBackup Agents for non-standard client backups and NetBackup Vault.

Gains working knowledge and experience in all areas of EMC Storage/Management Software, Quantum Tape Libraries, and Veritas Netbackup suite.

Minimum Qualifications

College degree or equivalent experience; may have an advanced degree or equivalent experience; 5+ years of experience.

Degrees in Engineering or Computer Science preferred.

Demonstrated experience with EMC storage and Veritas NetBackup products and supporting hardware preferred.
