VMWare Engineer

This is a Permanent/Full Time position for a VMWare Engineer with our client in Jersey City, NJ.

 

Please send your word resume to vaishali.bhutani@ucaservices.com  The Virtualization Engineer will work to the highest level to design and implement a framework that ensure a scalable, high available and flexible architecture utilizing virtualization technologies. He or She evaluates new technologies and develops departmental standard practices related to virtualization. He or She is recognized as technical leader within the department and organization with emphasis on the virtualization of the Linux and Windows environments.

The Virtual Engineering Team responsibilities include, end to end responsibility for all Virtualization strategies related functions which include but not limited to:

* Design, implementation and operation of all Virtual infrastructure related to technologies such as:

o VMWare ESX server

o VMWare Lifecycle Manager

o VMWare Lab Manager

o Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper*V

o Knowledge of Novell Xen Hypervisor

* Design, implementation and operation of management technologies of virtualization technologies.

* Design and implementation of flexible architectures using virtualization for testing and development environments.

The candidate must have expert understanding of VMWare ESX server and server hardware. Strong understanding of networking and IP address management is required. The manager in this role will serve as a centralized interface for all Virtual Server related engineering and operational related items.



Strong understanding of infrastructure architectures, software lifecycle tactic, and system development. Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non*technical audiences. Needs to have a good understanding and experience of server and client side architectures and systems design. Should have an understanding of current industry trends and their advantages with ability to right fit into an existing environment. Must be a self*starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

* Responsible for the providing comprehensive support for design, implementation, and support of all Microsoft Windows Server systems.

?? Excellent time management and organizational skills.

?? Establish and define automated system installation/configuration procedures.

?? Create System Run Books, defining day*to*day support, maintenance, troubleshooting knowledgebase of the infrastructure.

?? Analysis of existing installations.

?? Establish performance models and validation techniques.

?? Establish best practices for monitoring and forecasting of system/application capacity with integration into EMS.

?? Recommend changes and improvements to the current environment.

?? Extensive knowledge with data center migration and consolidation utilizing emerging technologies.



Knowledge:



?? Extensive troubleshooting and performance monitoring skills.

?? Extensive experience of the following:

o Virtualization Technologies.

o Virtualization migration strategies (i.e. Physical to Virtual)

o Virtualization performance and management strategies

?? Must understand network architecture and specific network components.

?? Skilled in the development or re*engineering of systems and processes.

?? Operations background with excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

?? Understanding of network communication protocols (TCP/IP etc).

?? Application load balancing and recovery mechanisms a plus.





Prior Work Experience:



?? At least 5 years of experience in technology engineering preferably VMWare.

?? Extensive Systems Engineering experience within e*commerce or financial services industry
